Sew Your Own T-Shirt: Beginner-Friendly Knitwear Class

Ready to sew your own comfy, custom-fit t-shirt? This hands-on class is designed to help you build essential garment construction skills while making one of the most versatile pieces in any wardrobe: the classic tee.

In this class, you will:

• Learn how to cut and sew knit fabrics, including tips for handling stretch material without distortion
• Explore different neckline finishes, including crew necks and scoop necks
• Master techniques for hemming knits for a clean, professional look
• Gain confidence using a standard sewing machine or serger on knit fabrics

A basic t-shirt pattern will be provided, but you’re also welcome to bring any knit pattern you’d like help with—we love seeing your ideas! Whether you’re creating a relaxed-fit tee, a fitted top, or experimenting with sleeves and lengths, we’ll support your creativity.

Skill Level:
This class is suitable for confident beginners and up. You should be able to operate a sewing machine independently or have completed a beginner sewing class.

Supplies & Equipment:

• Bring 2 yards of knit fabric (either 2-way or 4-way stretch).

• Fabric is also available for purchase in the studio—please arrive 20 minutes early if you plan to buy on the day of the class.

• Use one of our sewing machines, or bring your own. Sergers are welcome too!
